I wanted this painting to be about strength. Not a loud aggressive kind of strength, but rather a quiet dignified strength. The kind of strength that a Stag has in the forests of up state NY. This painting went through three stages, pictured here is the final version. There was a Stag in painting at one point and in the end I just kept his horns in the composition.
