Artist's Description
Made during the never ending recovery from the orthopedic operations. Still it hurts even now. Zebra Boy the character s where I put all my feelings and thoughts about being sliced open and rebuilt with metal because if i were to have kept it inside i might have emotionally destroyed me. The circumstances my hip bones crumbling is due to medals side affects that no one ever once mentioned to me ... I would never had taken and medicines that could do so much harm to my body. In the end though Zebra Boy becomes a symbol, a character that anyone going through physical transformation can relate to, or maybe even find them selfs in him. There is a very real lost overwhelmed sadness to this piece that I cannot deny but I also think beautifully honest. One aspect of my artistic gift (and all artists are different) is that how I feel is always going to show up first no matter the image, project or even commission - it's all tempered by emotions. Its my greatest strength and weakness.
